In this course, youth workers learn how to use Artificial Intelligence—especially tools like ChatGPT—to strengthen democratic engagement and active citizenship among young people. Through practical examples and step-by-step guidance, they discover how AI can support interactive learning, debate preparation, fact-checking, and project planning. They also explore how AI improves accessibility, inclusivity, and participation in youth initiatives. By the end of the course, learners understand how to use AI responsibly, ethically, and creatively to empower young people, encourage critical thinking, and streamline their own youth work practice.

In a rapidly evolving digital landscape, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming an indispensable tool for youth workers. Whether the goal is to tackle democratic engagement, encourage active citizenship, or organize inclusive activities, AI can streamline processes, provide actionable insights, and foster meaningful debate. This course explores how AI-powered tools—most notably ChatGPT—can bolster the active participation of young people in decision-making processes and amplify the impact of youth work initiatives.
From clarifying why debate is central to democracy, to providing guidelines for robust fact-checking, to optimizing project planning and implementation, this e-learning module is designed to equip youth workers with the know-how and confidence to leverage AI responsibly. By understanding AI’s potential and limitations, youth workers can better serve their communities and guide young people toward becoming engaged, informed, and empowered citizens.
