Content

In the second session of our Gamification Seminar from KVAK project, we dive deeper into the core mechanics and dynamics that make games so engaging — and how we can apply them to learning experiences.

Participants will explore the building blocks of gamification, from points and badges to quests, levels, and leaderboards, and learn how these elements shape motivation and behavior. We’ll also look at how to align these mechanics with learning objectives to ensure that gamified experiences support both fun and educational value.

Contents:
  • Understanding game basics
  • Key game mechanics: points, badges, leaderboards, quests, levels, etc.
  • Game dynamics: how players emotionally and socially engage with games
  • Aligning gamification with clear learning outcomes
  • Interactive activity: design a simple gamified learning challenge

This session is ideal for educators, youth workers, and learning designers who want to create engaging, goal-driven experiences using game elements.

🖥️ This session was delivered via Zoom by Nexes cooperative team, recorded and added to the platform, so you can revisit the content anytime as part of your Cities of Learning achievements.

This badge is awarded to participants who completed the “Gamification in Education – Session 2” of the KVAK Project and successfully submitted the interactive activity.

In this session, participants explored core game mechanics and dynamics, including points, badges, quests, levels, and leaderboards. They learned how to align these elements with learning objectives and use digital badges to support motivation and recognition. Moreover, through the badge activity, participants demonstrated their ability to apply game mechanics creatively and intentionally to enhance learning and engagement.
