Discover the city, learn about its main places and services, and take your first steps towards becoming part of the local community.
Duration: 60-90 minutes
Time frame: within the first week of arrival
Location: Molfetta
The Infopack is an important document shared with you before the beginning of your volunteering project. It is prepared by the lead or host organisation and enriched by the experiences and contributions of previous ESC volunteers. The Infopack created by Associazione InCo-Molfetta is continuously updated with new information and recommendations.
During this activity, you will put what you have learned from the Infopack into practice. You will explore Molfetta, learn how to navigate the city independently and identify useful places, services and opportunities. This will also help you become familiar with the local culture and begin connecting with the community.
Get started:
Read the Infopack and watch the video below to get inspired by the city.
Then complete the City Discovery activity following the instructions provided.
After completing the activity, upload the required evidence to the platform. This may include photos, a short text, a reflection or other requested material.
Once your evidence has been reviewed and confirmed by your mentor or the InCo team, you will receive an Open Badge recognising the local orientation and cultural awareness competences you have developed.

This badge recognises an ESC volunteer who has explored Molfetta and learnt about the city’s main places, services and opportunities. They have read and studied the Info pack, learnt about key spots and services, and got insights on how to be part of the local community.
The badge holder has demonstrated the ability to navigate the city independently, identify useful local services, places and opportunities, and find relevant information beyond the ESC Info pack. They have become more familiar with Molfetta’s culture and everyday life and have started connecting with locals. They have developed both local orientation and cultural awareness skills.
Tasks
Task no.1
Evidence verified by: one activity organiser
After reading the Info pack, explore Molfetta and find the following places:
- A place where you can find bargains — but only on Thursdays.
- A place where you can sell or exchange your clothes.
- A place where you can taste local food.
- A place where you can send letters and packages.
- The main entrance to the old town.
Take a photo of yourself at each place. For the third challenge, take a photo while tasting a local dish, snack or speciality.
Two of these places are not mentioned in the Infopack, so you will need to discover them by asking local people or doing your own research!
Finally, combine the five photos into a collage and upload it as evidence of your City Discovery.
