Democratising Creativity
How might you participate in creative processes and value equality, inclusion and diversity?
In this task, you will explore cultural participation as a democratic practice that goes beyond making or consuming art. When you take part in creative activities, how much influence do you have over what happens? Are you following instructions, contributing ideas, or helping shape outcomes?
You will reflect on the different levels of participation, from observing to co-creating. When have you experienced deeper involvement, and how did it affect your sense of agency or belonging? What makes participation feel meaningful rather than tokenistic?
This task also invites you to consider the difference between participation and collaboration. When is power genuinely shared, and when does it remain controlled by others? How do listening, negotiation, and openness to change shape collaborative processes? As you engage with these ideas, think about the challenges of participation in diverse and unequal contexts. Who benefits, and who might be excluded or misrepresented? What might it mean to create cultural spaces that support fairness, shared decision-making, and real democratic change?

How have you felt enabled or inhibited when contributing your novel ideas to others?
In this task, you will explore contribution as a key part of collaboration and creative learning. When you work with others, how do you contribute—through speaking, listening, acting, or supporting? How has your role changed over time as you’ve become more confident or experienced?
You will reflect on different aspects of contribution, including action, interaction, and persistence. When do you take initiative, and when do you wait for direction? How do you respond to others’ ideas—and how often do you invite others in or build on what they offer?
This task also invites you to consider how inclusion and equality shape contribution. When have you felt able—or unable—to participate fully? What factors, such as confidence, accessibility, or group dynamics, influenced this? As you engage with these ideas, think about how groups can support more meaningful contributions. What might it take to create environments where diverse voices are valued, differences are welcomed, and everyone feels able to move from the edges toward active participation?

How could the ideas and views of others transform your ideas and approaches?
In this task, you will explore perspective-taking as a key part of collaboration. When you work with others, how do you understand their viewpoints? Do you recognise differences in feelings, experiences, or cultural backgrounds, or do you tend to assume others see things as you do?
You will reflect on different aspects of perspective-taking, including empathy, awareness, and communication. When do you adapt your ideas in response to others, and how do you shape what you say so it makes sense from their perspective? How do responsiveness and audience awareness influence how groups work together?
This task also invites you to consider how perspective-taking supports fairness and inclusion. Who gets heard in group settings, and whose perspectives might be overlooked? How do groups manage differences and avoid dominant voices taking over? As you engage with these ideas, think about perspective-taking as a shared responsibility. What might it mean to actively support understanding, balance, and collaboration in the groups you are part of?
