Unleash the Power of Inclusion through Game Design! That's what the BalkanIdea Novi Sad team accomplished in Serbia.
Bringing Together Diverse Professionals
We brought together a diverse group of youth workers, non-formal education trainers, and education professionals for an unforgettable 5-day experience. During 30 hours of structured training, the participants could dive into the exciting world of game design and learn about the principles of inclusion.
Safe and Supportive Learning XP
Imagine you experience exclusion scenarios where some individuals are deprived of specific opportunities and have to find unique ways to fulfil their needs. Luckily, this happens while participating in a safe and supportive environment. That's precisely what our team created with our board game-play and experiential learning approach.
Mastering Game Design
The training was divided into several parts, starting with preparation and ending with reflection. We introduced participants to the game design process, followed by a day of group work on creating game prototypes and playtesting with feedback. The following two days were dedicated to conceptualization and experimentation, including sessions on the educational benefits of game design and the competences needed to facilitate the process.
Hands-On Game-based Learning
Our team used games as powerful tools throughout the training to cover workshop topics and provide hands-on learning opportunities. Participants got to play games like Escape Room, Forbidden Island, Hellapagos, and many others to try out different game mechanics and have fun during break time.
Participants' Appreciation and Insights
The training was a huge success, with participants leaving with a newfound appreciation for the game design process and its potential for fostering inclusion. They gained valuable insights into how they can use game design in their work with young people and its impact on creating a more inclusive society.
In Partnership with GameOn
BalkanIdea Novi Sad (SR) delivered and shared these training modules in the frame of the international partnership "GameOn" in collaboration with expert partners from Nexes (ES), Idealúdica (ES), Universitat de Barcelona (ES), Nectarus (LT) and Associazione Interculturale NUR (IT)
GameOn is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
Supercharge Inclusion with Game Design
So, if you're ready to take your engagement and learning to the next level, design training experiences to develop superpowers of inclusion through game design!
