“Search for the Other” is a project born from the desire to unite the four experiences lived in the related artistic residencies, thanks to the various Foundations and in particular to Marche Cultura. The idea I wanted to realize is to combine popular legends from every culture experienced during the four art residencies.
Despite being countries relatively distant from each other and with different cultures, they all have, in their land, a story that deals with fantastic events or dark characters. With this photographic story I would like to lead the observer to put in discussion the photographic medium, which is usually considered as showing the truth, making it trivially credible as an event that actually happened.
For each country visited I decided to research popular traditions and beliefs and not, as in the case of Dancing
Lady: a legend born on the Internet with which the kids try to scare their peers and anyone they come across their channels: it is a modern legend known by few, so much so that many people who I befriended were unaware of it.
As for the other legends, of the remaining countries, I have collected information from local people and from historical sources found on the internet. Then, thanks to my imagination, I reinterpreted them with the aim of bringing the observer, to understand the untruthfulness of my story, but also to immerse himself in a photographic shot that can still tell the emotions, doubts and mysteries of the same legend.

SAMUELE TOPPI

SPAIN - MANISES
In this particular case the artist investigated the legend of UFOs and the OVNI of Manises, through old newspapers and oral stories and reinterpreted it with two photographs.
