Where Am I? – Discover Myself is the starting point of your journey towards employability. In this facilitator-led workshop, you will have the opportunity to stop, reflect on where you are now and think about where you would like to go next.
At this stage, you are not expected to have all the answers. The aim is to help you better understand yourself, explore possible professional directions and start thinking about the steps that could help you get there.
By the end of the activity, you will be able to:
- Reflect on your interests and strengths and identify activities, subjects and experiences that you enjoy or feel confident in.
- Recognise what you already know and can do, including knowledge and abilities developed through school, VET, hobbies, volunteering, sport, youth activities and other experiences.
- Explore possible professional directions and think about the types of work, opportunities or professional environments that may suit you.
- Identify your short-term career or learning goals and think about what you would like to achieve next.
- Recognise what you may need to develop — such as new knowledge, technical skills or personal competences — to move towards your goals.
- Identify possible next steps that can help you move from where you are now towards where you want to go.
- Understand why knowing yourself matters for employability, and how this first reflection can later help you build a CV that reflects your goals, experiences and skills.
This is the first step of your employability journey: before you can show an employer what you can do, it is important to understand who you are, what you have to offer and where you want to go.
