Build My CV – How do I show what I can do? is the third step of your journey towards employability. You have already reflected on where you want to go and identified skills that you have developed through your education and life experiences. Now it is time to bring everything together and turn it into a CV that shows an employer what you can offer.
In this practical, facilitator-led workshop, you will use a computer and online tools to create your own CV. You will learn how to select and organise the information that is most relevant to your professional goals and how to present your education, technical skills, soft skills and experiences in clear and professional language.
You will also learn that a good CV is not simply a list of everything you have done. It should help an employer quickly understand who you are, what you can do and why your profile could be relevant to the opportunity you are looking for.
By the end of the activity, you will be able to:
- Understand the purpose of a CV and how it can help you introduce yourself, your experience and your skills to a potential employer.
- Recognise the main sections of a professional CV and understand what information should be included in each one.
- Adapt your CV to your professional direction, using the goals and opportunities you identified during Discover Myself Activity to decide what information should be highlighted.
- Present your education and technical skills clearly, including relevant knowledge and competences developed through secondary education, VET, training or other learning experiences.
- Include relevant soft skills in your CV, using the skills and evidence identified during the Skills Lab rather than simply listing generic personal qualities.
- Translate your experiences into professional language, explaining what you did, what responsibilities you had and what skills you developed through school projects, VET, internships, volunteering, sport, youth activities, part-time work or other relevant experiences.
- Select information that is relevant to an employer, rather than trying to include every experience you have had.
- Use clear, concise and professional language to describe your profile, experiences and competences.
- Create a clear and professional CV that reflects your current profile and is aligned with the type of opportunity you would like to pursue.
This is the third step of your employability journey: you know where you want to go and you have recognised the skills you already have. Now it is time to make them visible to an employer.

To earn this badge, create a complete CV that presents your profile, education, experiences and skills and is aligned with the professional direction you identified earlier in your journey.
Your CV should:
- Present who you are through a short and clear professional profile.
- Be connected to your professional goal and the type of opportunities you are interested in.
- Include your education and training, including relevant secondary or VET education.
- Present your technical skills that are relevant to your professional direction.
- Include relevant soft skills, using what you discovered during the Skills Lab.
- Connect skills to experiences wherever possible, rather than simply presenting a list of personal qualities.
- Include relevant experiences, such as internships, work experience, volunteering, school projects, youth activities, sport or other experiences that add value to your profile.
- Translate your experiences into professional language, clearly explaining what you did and what you learned or developed.
- Use a clear and professional structure and language, making the most important information easy for an employer to find.
Evidence: Upload your completed CV.
The purpose of the assessment is not to decide whether you have the “perfect CV”. Your mentor will check whether your CV clearly presents your current profile, is connected to your professional direction and provides enough evidence for an employer to understand what you know and can do.
The mentor will check whether:
- The CV is complete and clearly structured.
- The professional direction or target is understandable.
- Education and relevant training are clearly presented.
- Relevant technical skills are included.
- Soft skills are included and, where possible, connected to experiences.
- Relevant formal and non-formal experiences are presented.
- Experiences are described using clear and professional language.
- The information selected is relevant to the type of opportunity the young person wants to pursue.
- The CV is clear, concise and easy to read.
- The document is sufficiently developed to be used as a first professional CV.
Once your mentor confirms that your CV meets these criteria, your evidence can be approved and you can earn the My CV badge.
