Deadline to apply: contact organisers, info@nectarus.lt

Nectarus team, Cities of Learning partners, and the Alliance of Youth Work Associations are creating a good practice example in Europe on how the European Training Strategy (ETS) can be translated into specific actions – a set of modular training courses for youth workers and competence certification system (see more details).

This international training will be the first activity in a series of modular training for youth workers. It will focus on the ETS competence area of Designing Programmes, especially international programmes (*see full description below).

Highlights of this training activity:

  • Aligned to the ETS competence model - the course objectives and content are aligned with professional competences expected for quality programme design in international youth work and non-formal learning.
  • Focuses primarily on international youth work programme development, for example, youth exchanges, participation projects and volunteering activities, however beneficial to local programmes.
  • Certified training - the broad coalition of partners will create opportunities for the course participants to assess, validate and recognise competence development at the international level and in specific countries.
  • Digital friendly - the training and competence assessment methodology and activities will include using digital tools and platforms, for example, Cities of Learning and digital Open Badges.
  • Long-term development opportunity - participants willing to continue to develop youth work professional competences will be invited to apply for the following training courses.
  • Endorsed by a broad partnership of Cities of Learning members and national and international youth worker associations.

Participants profile:

This course is well-design for people who are in the process of becoming a professional youth worker, for example:

  • transition from being a young volunteer to a (professional) youth worker
  • work with young people and want to advance their professional competences
  • study youth work and want to gain practical experience.
  • work locally and want to develop international youth programmes
  • Age: from 18 years.
  • Language: a sufficient level of English is necessary to participate in this course.
  • Eligible countries: Erasmus+ Programme countries and Partner countries (so-called “Third countries not associated with the Programme)

The course organisers will invite up to 24 participants.

Expected results and competence development:

By taking part in this training course, participants will have opportunities to develop the following competences (knowledge, skills and attitudes):

  1. How to involve young people in the international programme design and assess their needs.
  2. How to apply non-formal learning principles when designing international youth work programmes.
  3. How to deal with ambiguity and unexpected elements when developing and realising international programmes.
  4. How to integrate digital transformation in international youth work programmes at the content, activity and tools levels.
  5. How to reflect, assess and recognise youth worker competence development in international programme design using Youthpass, digital badges and the Cities of Learning platform.

In addition to competences above, participants will get familiar with international youth work funding opportunities and formats.

Download the provisional training programme for more details.

Digital credentials and certification:

This training activity is a unique opportunity for participants to use up-to-date and digital recognition solutions, such as digital Open Badges and Cities of Learning platform. Participants can use 360-degree competence assessment, earn digital badges, and receive certificates proving their competence development.

Youthpass process and certificate will be offered to participants joining this training programme.

Description of the ETS competence area Designing Programmes: “Designing programmes involves a good understanding of the different groups and environments that a youth worker deals with. This precondition is essential to being able to develop and design programmes – be it with an explicit educational purpose or not. The youth worker applies non-formal learning values and principles in the programmes and responds to the needs and realities of young people, which are more complex in an international context. This competence area includes how designing programmes can address political, societal, technological and cultural issues in youth work and how it can be opened up to include the wider community.”
