Welcome!

The Achievements Programme aims to help volunteers self-assess their achievements and collect evidence of their learning achievements through a range of exciting missions and digital Open Badges.

Watch this short video and get to know essentials about Open Badges and how can they support your learning and future opportunities.

Why collect Open Badges?

Reflect on your learning
Badges help you recognise what you have achieved, making your learning visible throughout your volunteering experience rather than only at the end.

Build your personal achievements portfolio
As you earn more badges, you create a rich portfolio that demonstrates your competences, experiences and personal strengths. Your badges become evidence of what you can do.

Strengthen your Youthpass
The information collected through your badges can be easily transferred into the Learning section of your Youthpass certificate, making it much easier to reflect on and describe your learning outcomes.

Support your future opportunities
Your badges can be compiled into a PDF certificate and included alongside your CV, job applications, university applications or professional portfolio.

Create a positive digital footprint
Open Badges are digital credentials that can be shared on social media, professional networks, websites and online portfolios, allowing you to present your achievements wherever you choose.

Keep your learning for the future
Years after your volunteering experience, your badges will still remind you of the skills you developed, the projects you contributed to and the challenges you successfully completed.

Will employers recognise my badges?
Employers may not ask how many badges you have. They are much more likely to ask questions such as:
📜 What did you achieve during your volunteering?
📜 What skills did you develop?
📜 Can you give examples of your responsibilities and accomplishments?

Your Open Badges provide credible evidence that helps you answer these questions with confidence.

Making the most of the Achievements Programme
The programme is designed to support your learning, not to create extra work.

👉 Start with any competence area or badge that interests you.
👉 Progress at your own pace throughout your volunteering project.
👉 Use badges as a tool for reflection, not as a checklist.
👉 Collect evidence of your achievements as they happen.
👉 Discuss your progress with your mentor and celebrate your learning.

Most importantly, remember that the real value lies in your volunteering experience. Open Badges simply help make that experience visible, meaningful and easier to share with others.

If you have ideas about how the badge programme could better support your learning, share them with your mentor. Your feedback helps improve the programme for future ESC volunteers.

Getting Started with the ESC Achievements Programme

1. Create your Awero account
Visit www.awero.org and create your personal account.

When registering:
❗️Use your real name.
❗️Register with an email address that you regularly use and can access.
❗️Confirm your account by clicking the verification link sent to your email.

This account will become your personal learning and achievements portfolio.

2. Download the Badge Wallet app
For the best experience, download the Badge Wallet app from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android).

Enable notifications so you can:
  • receive invitations to new badge activities;
  • know when your mentor reviews your submissions;
  • be notified whenever you earn a new badge.

Your earned badges will always be available in the app and in your Awero account.

3. Join the Achievements Programme on the platform
Your mentor will invite you to the ESC Achievements Programme using the email address you registered with on Awero.
Once invited, you will receive a notification by email and/or through the Badge Wallet app. Accept the invitation to access your learning journey.

4. Earn your first badge – Proud Volunteer
Your mentor will invite you to begin your first badge.
Simply scan the provided QR code with your phone camera or directly in the Badge Wallet app to start the badge mission.

Complete the first activity by uploading a short description of your volunteering placement. Once your mentor reviews and approves your submission, your first Open Badge will automatically appear in your Badge Wallet and your Awero account.

5. Continue with the Recognition Ready badge

After earning your first badge, start working on the Recognition Ready badge.
This badge introduces you to:

the ESC Achievements Programme;
the value of Open Badges;
how digital badges help recognise your learning and achievements.

Complete the short reflection activity and submit your evidence. After your mentor approves it, you will receive your second badge.

6. Start building your competences

Once you’ve completed the introductory badges, we recommend beginning with the Learning to Learn competence pathway by earning the Learning Explorer badge.
These badges help you:

  • reflect on your learning experiences;
  • identify your strengths and development goals;
  • become more confident in recognising and describing your own achievements.
Remember, there is no single correct order for earning badges. The Achievements Programme is flexible—you can explore different competence areas and complete badge activities at your own pace, together with the support of your mentor.

Enjoy your learning journey, celebrate your achievements, and make your volunteering experience visible through Open Badges!
