Values

How might values frame your experiences of learning and participation in cultural democracy?
In this task, you will explore how values form the foundation of cultural competence within the CultureComp Framework. How do your underlying beliefs shape the way you engage with others in culturally complex situations? You will reflect on three key values—equality, difference, and deliberation—and consider how they influence collaboration and participation.

You will examine what it means to believe in equality not just as sameness, but as fairness shaped by equity and access. How do differences in power and opportunity affect participation? You will also explore the value of difference, considering how diversity can be recognised and respected without being reduced or ranked.

Finally, you will reflect on deliberation as a practice of dialogue, listening, and ongoing negotiation. What happens when disagreement is treated as productive rather than problematic? As you engage with these ideas, you will consider how values shape not only what people do, but how they relate, decide, and create together in democratic cultural spaces.

Attitudes

How might values animate your experiences of learning and participation in cultural democracy?
In this task, you will explore how attitudes shape the way we engage with cultural difference and uncertainty. While values guide what we believe, attitudes influence how ready we are to act, respond, and relate to others. How do your attitudes affect the way you approach unfamiliar perspectives or challenging situations?

You will reflect on three key attitudes within CultureComp: empathy, openness to failure, and responsibility for cultural complexity. What does it mean to feel alongside others rather than simply observe them? How might accepting failure as part of learning open up new possibilities for collaboration and creativity?
You will also consider how attitudes shape ethical engagement with a changing cultural world. How do you respond to cultural uncertainty—by resisting, avoiding, or engaging with care? As you work through this task, you will explore how attitudes support sensitivity, resilience, and responsibility, helping individuals and groups navigate cultural complexity in more thoughtful and collaborative ways.

Skills

How might skills catalyse your experiences of learning and participation in cultural democracy?
In this task, you will explore how skills enable cultural competence to move from intention into action. While values and attitudes shape how we think and feel, skills are what allow us to express, collaborate, and respond in real situations. How do your skills shape the way you engage with others across cultural difference?

You will reflect on three key skills within CultureComp: performing, contributing and building, and perspective-taking. What does it mean to express ideas through embodied, creative action? How do you contribute to shared processes, and how do you help shape something meaningful with others?

You will also consider how perspective-taking supports dialogue and ethical engagement. How do you listen, adapt, and respond to different viewpoints while still holding your own position? As you work through this task, you will explore how these skills support creativity, collaboration, and constructive challenge in culturally complex environments.

Knowledge

How might knowledge shape your experiences of learning and participation in cultural democracy?
In this task, you will explore how knowledge supports meaningful engagement with cultural complexity. Rather than focusing on fixed facts, you will consider knowledge as a reflective and applied understanding that helps you navigate real situations. How do you make sense of culture when meanings are uncertain or changing?

You will reflect on three key areas of knowledge within CultureComp: understanding culture as uncertain, understanding multiple selves, and understanding cultural contexts and conventions. What happens when you see culture as fluid rather than fixed? How does recognising your own shifting identities shape the way you engage with others?

You will also consider how knowledge of contexts and conventions supports respectful and informed interaction. How do histories, practices, and communication styles influence meaning? As you work through this task, you will explore how knowledge encourages curiosity, reflexivity, and openness—helping you respond thoughtfully to cultural difference without reducing it to simple categories or assumptions.
