This playlist supports young people to explore stand-up comedy as an art form—writing jokes, performing, analysing comedians, and sharing comedy skills with others and forms a part of Open Up The Mic training courses for young people and delivered by BlackLiver with the support of ShowTown Museum, Think Forward and funding from Arts Council England. The playlist and learning and reflection action activities allow young people to provide evidence that can go towards a Bronze Arts Award.
You’ll build:
● Confidence performing in front of others
● Comedy writing skills (jokes, timing, storytelling)
● Critical thinking (reviewing comedy)
● Understanding of professional comedians

This is your chance to share being the audience and have a comedy experience as an audience member.
Who have you seen? Where have you seen them? (include evidence like photos, tickets, fliers and programmes).
What did you enjoy about the performance? What did you dislike about the experience? Note: remember to explain why!
What made you laugh (a lot and/or a little)
Describe who and what you have seen to family and friends. What did they think about it, would they go and see them? How was the: timing, delivery and audience interaction?
Include photographs of you being the audience, being at the venue, exploring and experiencing the arts.
*(remember to explain what is happening in the photographs)
*(this could also include seeing the comedian(s) who open up for your performance)

The owner of this badge has completed the required 4 tasks required for the ‘Having a Laugh - Being the Audience’ activity which forms a part of the learning playlist ‘Open Up The Mic’. The skills, knowledge and attitudes gained and demonstrated through completing these tasks include:
Identified and attended a comedy event, documented and described their audience experience
Shared evidence of them attending the comedy event
Researched and identified other comedy events they would like to go to
Shared with others a review of the experience of being an audience member for a comedy performance
Completing these four tasks means they have successfully provided evidence to gain the ‘Having a Laugh - Being the Audience’ badge and are now over halfway to achieving the overall ‘Open Up The Mic’ badge.
